Richard Simpson
Technical Officer - Sydney Battle Squadron

Richard came to the AusBG from TF72, the 1:72nd scale naval modellers and before that wargamed extensively. He first visited the battlegroup in October 2000 and at that meeting shot the sequences Death of a Battleship and The Hornet is sunk - Finally.

Joining the AusBG after this visit, Richard purchased the incomplete USS Alabama from Scott D'Arcy on 6th January 2001 and completed her in time for the January 2001 Australia Day battle at Bowning. He sailed with the Newcastle Squadron until July 2001 when, with Steve Cowan, he secured permission to use the water at Bankstown and set up the Sydney Battle Squadron.

At the start of 2002 he was elected "Technical Officer" for the Sydney Battle Squadron and now spends his time organising the Sydney Squadron, improving the AusBG website, writing battle reports (January 2001 (Nationals), June 2001 (Nationals) & March, 2002 (Canberra) so far) as well as maintaining his three vessels.
